Efrat residents take NIMBY, Not In My Back Yard, to a whole new level.
Michael Sperber's family in Efrat, Israel was getting ready for bed when at 11 PM they heard their house being attacked by what later turned out to be more than ten M-16 bullets that Michael believes were a targeted sniper attack on his family from adversaries living in illegally constructed houses on the outskirts of the neighboring city of Bethlehem.
This is his story.
While American NIMBY groups worry about trash dumps in neighboring towns, Jewish residents of Efrat and other cities throughout Israel's Area C have bigger problems to contend with. On July 28th 2022, more than ten shots were fired at a house in Efrat from the direction of illegally built Arab houses on the outskirts of neighboring Bethlehem. This appears to be the result of the Fayyad Plan - being executed by the Palestinian Authority and European Union in an attempt to unilaterally declare an independent Palestinian State.
